The Roman spring at Eure, departure point of the Nîmes aqueduct - Guided tour Uzès, Ville d'art et d'histoire
Presentation
On this tour, you'll discover the catchment basin (closed to the public) and the first archaeological remains of this exceptional Roman work, which has yet to reveal all its secrets.
Around 50 AD, the Romans of the ancient city of Nemausus began construction of a huge aqueduct, of which the Pont du Gard is the most famous work of art. It carried to Nîmes the waters of the Eure fountain, which rises a few hundred meters below Uzès.
A "return to the origins" of the Pont du Gard will be an opportunity to discover the Eure valley, a bucolic place that for centuries was also one of the city's green and economic lungs.
Please note: 60 m difference in altitude, partly on footpath.
Bring good shoes.
