Festival Autres Rivages 32ème édition - Etenesh Wassié - Ethio Jazz Session
Presentation
Their new opus, "Arada", is a striking blend of modernity and tradition, where registers and instruments merge to give birth to a mutant blues, both rich and austere, revisiting Ethiopian heritage with intensity.
The 32ᵉ edition of the Autres Rivages festival invites you to enjoy the beautiful summer evenings, while letting yourself be rocked - or lifted in rhythm! - by top-quality musical performances.
The artist :
The story uniting Etenesh Wassié and the musicians of Freddy Morezon is a long one. After a 1ᵉʳ album with Le Tigre des Platanes, the singer then shifted an age-old, improvisation-based repertoire to the side of free jazz and Krautrock. The new opus, Arada, is as much the culmination of work begun in 2018 as a trio, as it is a new impetus. The warmth of the double bass and the depth of the acoustic bass now embrace the low, powerful, hypnotic growls of the Ethiopian singer, while the drums bring groove and contrast. Inhabited, playful, joyful music, hoarse gasps, drone sounds, beyond the disruptive register, illuminate flickering emotions and the vulnerability of beings.
